Step 6 of 7 · on a machine · 4 min

A network behind the neighbour

The client now has a default route, but the backup network has to bypass it and go via the neighbour. Set this up yourself.

The backup network 203.0.113.0/24 is attached to the neighbour 192.0.2.1. The client's default route goes via 192.0.2.254, the main exit for all other networks.

Exercise · do it

The backup network past the main exit

In lab-client, make packets for the whole 203.0.113.0/24 network go via the neighbour 192.0.2.1, so that the host 203.0.113.5 answers ping. Leave the default route via 192.0.2.254 as it is.
