The reports cannot log in

The shop's reports are built by a separate program. It got a role called report, read access to the orders table, and a password in ~/.pgpass. The administrator who set this up says the line in pg_hba.conf was added and the rules reloaded. The report still fails: the program's log shows a refusal from the server.

Find out at which check it stops, and open access for report as narrowly as for shop.

Exercise · do it

Let the reports into the shop database

Make the report role log in to the shop database from 127.0.0.1 with the password from ~/.pgpass. Keep report out of other databases, keep shop and crm working, and do not restart the server.
