Step 7 of 8 · on a machine · 3 min

Fix someone else's command

A colleague sent you a command, and it fails because of a typo. Fix it with this lesson's techniques, without retyping the line.

The command creates a directory for the October reports: mkdir creates a directory, and the lesson on files covers it in detail. The directory the new one should appear in already exists in ~/terminal-practice.

Exercise · do it

Your colleague's command

In ~/terminal-practice, run your colleague's command as it is — it will fail. Find the typo in the path, fix it, and run the command again without retyping the line.
