Summary

An address set with ip lasts until the next netplan apply or reboot; the persistent configuration lives in /etc/netplan/*.yaml.
netplan generate checks the files and prepares the configuration, and netplan apply also sets it on the interfaces.
Netplan merges every *.yaml in the directory, and sudo netplan get shows the result.
The result is checked in the configuration, on the interface and by an exchange with the neighbour.
At the start of the lesson sudo netplan apply brought back 192.0.3.10/24: the colleague's fix existed only on the interface, while the file still had the old address.
