Step 7 of 8 · on a machine · 3 min

A different prefix, different neighbours

The same technique under new conditions: the subnet boundary is different, and you pick the client's address yourself.

The network administrator split 192.0.2.0/24 into two /25 subnets. The server got 192.0.2.200/25, the client got an address from the other half, and ping to the server fails again.

Exercise · do it

A neighbour in half a network

The server now has the address 192.0.2.200/25. Give lab0 in lab-client a single address with prefix /25 at which the server answers ping. Do not change the server.
